Matthew C. Wagner Presents and Publishes Paper on the Copyrightability of Application Programming Interfaces

Matthew C. Wagner, Chair of DMOC’s Intellectual Property Department, lectured on copyright law during the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s (AIPLA) Annual Meeting, held October 24-26, 2013, in Washington, D.C.  Mr. Wagner, who is Vice Chair of AIPLA’s Copyright Law Committee, participated as a member of a panel alongside several distinguished speakers and presented the issues and implications on appeal, in a program entitled “Copyright in Computer APIs—Does Oracle v. Google Presage a Bleak Future?”  Mr. Wagner was lead editor and contributing author of the paper, “Application Programming Interfaces (“APIs”) - A Primer and Discussion of Oracle America v. Google,” which was distributed to the participants.

Bloomberg News covered the event, and quoted Mr. Wagner in the October 30, 2013, edition of its Electronic Commerce & Law Report (Vol. 18, No. 42, page 2843). 

The presentation was approved for CLE credit in all states.
